Additional Navy Seals Information

The U.S. Navy SEALs are members of one of the world's most elite, most successful military commando forces. They are a highly trained unit of tenacious, intelligent and fearless soldiers. What does it take to become the best of the best? Find out as you follow Class 234 in a rigorous six-month training course that will push the men to extreme physical and emotional limits. The punishment never ends from the first day to the course's end when only 17 of 83 men will succeed as they face the most demanding training of their lives.

Disc 1 Welcome to BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) - From "The Grinder" to "Surf Torture," the training begins with a punishing series of physical and mental tests that will push students to their limits. And this is just the first day. It Pays to Be a Winner - With a one-mile bay swim in frigid water, the best students rise to the top...and half the class drops out by the end of the first week.

Disc 2 Two Weeks and a Long Day - Week One is over, and the remaining students of Class 234 are battered, bruised and exhausted. See how poor teamwork results in one candidate's injury and how two team leaders cost their crews serious punishment. Hell Week - This is the eliminator. For 24 hours a day, six days straight, candidates are put through a brutal set of tests designed to bring each of them to his breaking point and challenge him to push beyond it.

Disc 3 The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday - Students must combat fear and panic underwater as they learn advanced scuba and breathing techniques. Those who make it must undergo a simulated combat dive that demands extreme levels of precision . The Home Stretch - This is the training's most dangerous phase. Using real explosives and live ammunition, candidates learn demolition tactics, land navigation and combat maneuvers. The final hurdle is a nighttime, live-fire mission on a simulated enemy base.

What Customers Say About Navy Seals:

I would highly recommend this documentary to anyone who wishes to see the "tip of the iceburg" of Navy SEAL training. I think this DVD is a must-have for anyone considering joining the SEAL Teams.

I never knew how high the drop rate was until watching this video. I wish they showed more about the later parts of it but i am sure its probably top secret like the training on how to blow up and shoot stuff haha I liked their in depth look at the Navy Seals BUDS training, especially the first few weeks of the course including the HELL week. Its a great tactic that they use because alot of the guys that dropped, no offense, come up with all the excuses in the world but in the battlefield there can be no excuses for the grueling intense missions that they must undergo.

It really helps you get some insight to what these men will go through and the heart and determination they MUST possess to succeed. You also get some insight as to how the instructors view the various personalities of the men. My Son is in boot camp right now in Great Lakes, getting ready to start Pre-Buds training, all though he read several books on Navy Seals before joining, nothing beats the visuals from watching what it's like for these young men. I would highly recommend this to anyone considering becoming a Navy Seal as well as to the family and friends of anyone trying to become a Navy Seal. This DVD set is great. I started watching it on the Military Channel and bought it. I'm sending it to my son today.

If you really want to know what it takes to be a Navy SEAL and what these young men must endure to achieve their goal, I would highly recommend you watch this DVD set (and read the two Dick Couch books as companions). I discovered this series after reading Dick Couch's The Warrior Elite: the Forging of SEAL Class 228. This five hour DVD set gives us a snapshot of life in BUD/S training, the first hurdle sailors must clear to become Navy SEALs (BUD/S graduation is followed by SEAL Qualification Training [SQT]). Footage includes interviews with instructors and trainees during and between training evolutions. And many of the instructors seen in the DVD are also featured prominently in Couch's book. The result is a far more in-depth look at BUD/S training than you get from the video, but the DVD definitely gives you a sense of the agony these guys must go through; you can see the pain on their faces during the more tortuous evolutions. There are three mentally and physically challenging phases in BUD/S training. The third disk (two episodes) shows highlights from Second Phase diving instruction and Third Phase weapons training, underwater demolition, and land warfare tactics.

Couch is a former SEAL who served in Vietnam. For those interested in the next round of SEAL training, check out Couch's follow-up book, The Finishing School: Earning the Navy SEAL Trident, which chronicles SEAL Qualification Training or SQT. I loved this DVD set and am in awe of the young men who volunteer for the arduous SEAL training program. The first two disks (four episodes) in this set focus on First Phase - physical training and teamwork development - which includes the infamous Hell Week. He was given unprecedented access to instructors and trainees as he followed Class 228 through BUD/S.

This documentary is very informative and gives you viewer an understand of how NAVY SEALS train. Very well made documentary
